WINTER: WHERE COSY MEETS CHIC

Welcome to this Winter 2024 style blog, where cosy meets chic! This season, here are six unique looks that blend warmth and fashion seamlessly.

With a focus on roll necks and oversized jumpers, versatile staples for both him and her. Complementing these are timeless silk pieces that add elegance.

A notable shift this year is the warm brown and beige tones, moving away from the grey hues of previous years. Additionally, there are three new tie designs set to join the Fox & Chave collection in 2024.

LOOK 1: BASICS PLUS SILK

For a simple yet stylish winter look, try combining an off-white Marks & Spencer short cardigan with Stradivarius stretch blue jeans. A classic roll neck, tucked into the jeans, creates a neat base. This outfit's versatility shines with the addition of scarves, of course!

The Roman Mosaic Chiffon, featuring a brown and grey pattern inspired by ancient mosaics, adds a touch of elegance. Another option is the Tree Portiere Silk Habotai Scarf, a design created by John Henry Dearle on behalf of the Morris Company, with its design reminiscent of a 1909 tapestry, showcasing a tree and intricate floral border.

Both choices pair well with this winter layer-friendly outfit, which can be finished off with white trainers or chunky boots to complete the look.

LOOK 2: CASUALLY SOPHISTICATED

For this second feature, here is an outfit that perfectly melds sophistication with a casual vibe, suitable for a dinner or a Saturday morning at the coffee shop.

The ensemble pairs a light green New Look crew neck jumper with a crisp white collared shirt, creating a look that's both stylish and easygoing paired with black jeans.

The highlight is an exquisite new tie coming soon to our 2024 collection, adorned with a green and white thistle pattern set against a light blue background. Alternatively, the Alhambra Silk Tie offers a striking choice. Its rich colours and bold patterns are inspired by the traditional Moorish tiles found in the historic Alhambra of Granada, Spain, a testament to the unique fusion of European and Moorish architectural styles.

LOOK 3: SUBTLE or POWERFUL

This third look highlights two key pieces for a fashionable yet functional wardrobe this season – wide-leg black trousers from Whistles (these are ankle-grazers), a true staple for their versatility, and a cosy cream roll neck jumper, both very adaptable pieces.

The charm comes with the choice of scarf to suit your mood. For a bright and soft touch, opt for the Embroidered Chasuble Silk Habotai Scarf. This scarf features subtle floral patterns and colours, typically found in the embroidery of Chasubles, the outermost liturgical vestment in traditional Western Christian churches.

On days when you feel bold and want to make a statement, the Greek Charioteer scarf is the perfect choice. This design feature motifs of the ancient Greek chariot races in terracotta and black, a detail taken from an ancient Greek vase.

LOOK 4: SUBTLE or POWERFUL

For the fourth look in the winter style series, keep it effortlessly chic with this outfit. Classic black jeans and a sleek black Marks & Spencer jacket, paired with a blue check shirt for a relaxed yet stylish vibe.

Delving into the art world, here are two unique tie options. The first is the Bryn Parry Jockey Silks Blue Silk Tie. Bryn Parry, a best-selling cartoonist and author, was renowned for his charming depictions of dogs, pheasants, and countryside pursuits. His work, adorning the tie, adds a touch of whimsy and British charm.

The second tie choice is the vibrant Paul Klee Roads Silk Tie. This piece is more than just an accessory; it's a statement. Inspired by the Swiss-German expressionist artist Paul Klee, known for his unique style influenced by expressionism, cubism, and surrealism, the tie is a burst of colour and creativity.

For those interested, the collection extends to various Klee-inspired silk items for both him and her. Check it out here.

LOOK 5: FOR YOUR COLOURING

Here, those lovely Whistles Trousers making another appearance, this time paired with a brown knit jumper. The knit provides a lovely complementary texture to the silk, without being overbearing, and allows the silk to stand out.

Adding silk can entirely change the look, especially if you want to bring an outfit that is outside of your personal colour palette into the realm of flattering colours, particularly as silk often sits close to the face.

Depending on your colouring, you may choose to go with cool blue, or warm beige/black/brown. The two scarves we’ve selected here to complement these versatile base items include the Japanese Chrysanthemum Chiffon Scarf, featuring hand-stencilled chrysanthemums in black, white, and earth tones.

The second option here is the Morris Tulips Crêpe de Chine Scarf, a floral pattern scarf in powder blue, inspired by a furnishing pattern from the Morris Company, under the direction of the designer, poet, and social activist William Morris.

LOOK 6: NEW TIES to WATCH FOR IN 2024

Last but not least, here is another fantastic look for a warm and trendy January and February. A simple blue shirt and jeans are taken up a notch in style with the addition of a classic, and always fantastic, tweed jacket. This one is from Gianni Feraud.

To pair with it, here are two ties set to make an appearance in our online shop this year. Firstly, the Van Os Fruits & Florals - inspired by the work 'Fruit & Flowers in a Terracotta Vase' by the Dutch artist Jan Van Os (1744 - 1808). The painting features a profusion of colourful flowers and fruits, topped rather unnaturally by a pineapple. The chiffon scarf with this pattern has proved very popular.

The second features a Klimt-inspired design that includes gold, orange, and purple flowers and details from the work 'Wasserschlangen II', or 'The Water Serpents', a 1907 painting by Gustav Klimt. It. is also available as a silk scarf.

You can find all things Klimt here. Both these ties offer wonderful punches of colour, making the pairing options endless!
