DESIGNER'S NOTES
One of the most popular Fox & Chave silk tie designs featuring a pattern derived from the work Hoffnung II (1907-08) which means Hope II in English.
There are similarities of theme between this image and its predecessor Hoffnung I painted some 5 years earlier. Both images depict a pregnant figure in profile surrounded by other females and the looming presence of a skull.
While the first version is more stark with muted tones and dark colours that serve to offset the bright pallor of the central figure, who has bright orange hair and is completely nude, the second image from which this design is derived, is brighter with the figure covered on a robe or blanket with this idiosyncratic pattern so typical of the artist's developing style.

STYLING
A Fox & Chave silk tie looks best tied in a classic Windsor or half-Windsor knot and worn with a collar style of your choosing. Cutaway or spread collars offer the greatest opportunity to display the detail of your unique silk tie design.
