SILK SPRING THINGS - SIX LOOKS

We all know that silk is a luxurious and versatile accessory, so this month we are looking at a variety of ways to incorporate it into the spring wardrobe. We've put together three looks for him and three looks for her that are sure to elevate the most important clothing staples for spring 2023.

First up, a more formal look. We’ve paired a silk tie and bow tie with a camel coloured suit. Camel coloured suits are becoming increasingly popular.

They are perfect for weddings and other formal events. A silk tie or bow tie in a complementary colour will add a touch of luxury to your outfit.

Zara has some great camel coloured suits that would be perfect for this look. Which do you prefer? Pictured here we have, Mackintosh Peacock Eyes Bow Tie, based on a design by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and Morris Golden Lily Pink Silk Tie.

Next we have a versatile and stylish spring look for the ladies. Try pairing a sleeveless blouse with a jean midi skirt.

Denim skirts are a must-have this season, and they look great with a simple indigo top or any other colour block that suits your personal style. You can find this particular skirt at Zara, but most retailers will have denim skirts in stock this spring.

Elevate the look with a silk scarf, which not only adds a touch of elegance but also keeps you warm on cooler spring days.

We recommend the Van Gogh Irises scarf, a bright habotai silk scarf with a design derived from a detail from one of Vincent Van Gogh's Iris paintings, or the Marrakesh Red Chiffon, a silk chiffon scarf featuring warm reds, yellow and turquoise in a Moorish tile pattern. Both are lively and colourful!

With the addition of a silk scarf, you can create numerous looks with this season’s denim skirt wardrobe staple.

Looking for a casual but classy look for spring? Try pairing black denim jeans (like these slim-fit ones from Zara) and a blue shirt.

This one is from M&S and we’ve added our ever popular Klimt Turquoise bow tie.

The playful pattern on the bowtie, inspired by the works of the iconic artist Gustav Klimt, adds a touch of fun to the outfit while still maintaining a sense of sophistication. The combination of the blue shirt and black jeans creates a clean and modern base, making the bow tie the perfect statement piece to tie everything together.

This third look for men includes a winning combination of blue jeans, a light pink shirt from M&S, and the classic Morris Strawberry Thief silk tie in blue.

Jeans and a shirt can be a basic combination, but the addition of a tie can transform the look into something more polished and put-together. This beautiful tie features intricate details from the famous 'Strawberry Thief' pattern by William Morris.

Produced under licence with the V&A Museum, this tie is both timeless and on-trend but like so many of our outfits this season, there are many ties that can work with this look to bring it up a notch. 

Lastly we have a white tee and black blazer combination. Whilst it may appear basic and somewhat unexciting, it is, in fact, a timeless and versatile outfit for any season. To add colour and personality to the look, and change it up entirely, simply pair it with a luxurious silk scarf!

We have two great options here: The Morris Golden Lily scarf, which features a beautiful design inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, and the Japanese Kimono Crane scarf, which boasts a stunning pattern of pastel hues and stylised Red-crowned cranes.

Either option will add a pop of colour and change the look entirely. So don't underestimate the power of the white tee and black blazer combination - with the right accessories, it's a spring must-have that's sure to turn heads!
