DESIGNER'S NOTES
A perfect pale blue Fox & Chave silk tie that typifies the work of the English artist L.S. Lowry (1887-1976) and the work Yachts (1959) from which it is derived.
Lowry’s coastal works are among his most evocative yet often overlooked pieces. While he’s best known for his industrial cityscapes filled with 'matchstick men,' his paintings of the coastline reveal a more contemplative side of his artistry.
Beach and port scenes, such as those at Berwick-upon-Tweed and other locations in the North East of England, capture solitary figures adrift in vast, often bleak seascapes, where sea and sky blur in a muted, almost dreamlike palette. The contrast between human fragility and the endlessness of the sea evokes a quiet, melancholic poetry.
His minimal brushwork and sparse compositions focus on the isolation of figures and boats within the scene, subtly reflecting the post-industrial solitude of northern England.
STYLING
A Fox & Chave silk tie looks best tied in a classic Windsor or half-Windsor knot and worn with a collar style of your choosing. Cutaway or spread collars offer the greatest opportunity to display the detail of your unique silk tie design.
