DESIGNER'S NOTES
A fine woven silk Fox & Chave tie with a repeat pattern of dark navy blue pheasants over a cream ground. One for English weddings or even for wandering in wellies.
Pheasant shooting season in England starts on October 1 and lasts until February 1, bringing both excitement and economic benefits to rural communities. Pheasants, originally from Asia, were introduced to Britain as a game bird centuries ago and have since adapted to the British countryside. Managed on large estates, they are often raised specifically for hunting, with gamekeepers carefully balancing the needs of the birds, habitats, and hunters to ensure a successful season.
Fields, woodlands, and hedgerows are cultivated to support pheasant populations, which in turn creates diverse habitats for other wildlife.
Pheasants plumage plays a role in both survival and social signalling. Male pheasants, especially the common ring-necked species, sport vibrant colours and intricate feather patterns to attract mates, showcasing bright reds, blues, greens, and distinctive white rings around their necks.
