This red Fox & Chave silk tie features a repeat pattern of gold dianthus blooms in a style typical of islamic representations from the Ottoman Empire (c. 1299–1922)
The term Dianthus originates from the Greek words Dios (God) and Anthos (Flower). Over centuries, certain types were referred to as carnations because their blossoms were crafted into wreaths and employed in celebrations and festivals.
In Islam, geometric floral designs are believed to reflect the unity, harmony, and order inherent in the universe, reflecting the perfection of God's creation. They symbolise the divine attributes of symmetry, balance, and beauty.
