Morris Broche Blue Silk Tie

DESIGNER'S NOTES

A Fox & Chave printed silk tie in blue and pale olive, featuring one of the more unknown patterns by Morris & Co, entitled Velvet Broche, which is a reinterpretation of an earlier pattern named Granada.

Broche refers to a fabric and a technique of weaving and indicates the adaptation of the pattern for use on soft furnishings and curtains.

The pattern features a rich, repeating arrangement of stylised pomegranates, acanthus leaves, and interwoven vines, characteristic of Morris’s medieval and botanical influences. The design has a slightly Spanish or Moorish feel, which aligns with the name of the earlier print design.
