DESIGNER'S NOTES
A Fox & Chave silk bow tie featuring one of the most distinct and identifiable designs by the English Arts & Crafts pioneer William Morris (1834-1896)
Golden Lily was designed as early as 1870 and produced by Morris & Co. between 1880 and 1917 as a hand-printed woodblock wallpaper. It is likely that Morris himself created the broad outlines of this pattern, with the fine details attributed to John Henry Dearle.
It is a lush, intricate floral pattern featuring intertwining lilies, daisies, and tulips set against a verdant backdrop of curling leaves and vines. The design is characterised by its vibrant colours, primarily golden yellows, deep greens, soft blues, and rich reds, evoking a sense of natural abundance.
