DESIGNER'S NOTES
A stunning Fox & Chave silk tie after the work Fruit and Flowers in a Terracotta Vase (1777-78) by the Dutch painter Jan Van Os (1744-1808).
The painting is typical of many similar still life paintings by the artist and contemporaries of the period, depicting a cascade of sumptuous fruit and flowers, if a little past their best which in this instance attracts a fly and a painted lady butterfly.
The image features a particular tulip, the Semper Augustus, and a pineapple, both highly sought after at the time.
Van Os was the father of artists Pieter (1776-1839), Maria Margaretha, (1779-1862) and Georgius Jacobus Johannes (1782-1861), all to whom he was also teacher.

STYLING
A Fox & Chave silk tie looks best tied in a classic Windsor or half-Windsor knot and worn with a collar style of your choosing. Cutaway or spread collars offer the greatest opportunity to display the detail of your unique silk tie design.
