The craft of farriery dates back to the distant past, born from the need to protect horse hooves against harsh terrain and heavy labour. Farriers custom-shape iron shoes using heat and precise hammer strikes, nailing them into the insensitive outer hoof wall to preserve mobility and structural health.

Beyond practical utility, the horseshoe became a universal talisman of good luck and protection against evil. Traditionally forged from iron, a metal believed to ward off dark spirits, and fixed with seven nails, a prime number in folklore, it is often hung above doorways. Positioned open-side up, it holds luck within; facing down, it showers blessings below.
