DESIGNER'S NOTES
A fascinating Fox & Chave silk chiffon scarf with a repeat pattern created from the work Weiches Hart (1927) by the Russian painter Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (1866-1944).
Weiches Hart translates to Soft Hard in English, and is perhaps a referall to the combination of feathery graded areas of colour and the sharp geometric forms within the image.
A teacher at the Bauhaus school of Art & Design, there is evidently a cross-fertilisation in this work and that of his colleague there, and fellow artist, Paul Klee. The forms are bold and dominated by a variety of triangles with a form composed of concentric circles to the left of the painting perhaps coloured to suggest the schlera and iris of a human eye.
