DESIGNER'S NOTES
A Fox & Chave silk tie featuring an element from the oil painting Die Jungfrau or The Maiden (1913) by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt.
The painting depicts seven female figures as seen from a birds eye view. The figures are intertwined in an oval form that flows with various floral patterns. The figure of the central young woman is adorned with a flowing gown or dress in a prominent pattern of blues, purples, oranges and blacks. The figure to the left of the image is emaciated with the face obscured, and may be indicative of absence separation, or even death.
The painting's decorative style and use of gold leaf are characteristic of Klimt's art and the Art Nouveau movement.
