DESIGNER'S NOTES
This delightful Fox & Chave crêpe de chine silk scarf features a combination of Morris patterns, the primary one being amongst his most commercially successful; Golden Lily.
The pattern features lilies most prominently, depicted with graceful, arching stems and elegantly curved petals. In this example they are rendered in soft, pink hues, in place of the original golden ones from which the design derives its name. Acanthus leaves and other small blooms are also evident.
While the design is richly detailed, it maintains a sense of balance and order through the use of symmetry and repetition offering a harmonious and visually pleasing effect. The meticulous detailing and the layering of different elements give the pattern a textured, almost three-dimensional quality.
Drawing on both medieval and renaissance design aesthetics, Golden Lily has been used extensively in textiles and wallpapers. Its timeless elegance makes it a popular choice for both historic and contemporary interiors.
