DESIGNER'S NOTES

This classical Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf features a combination design of two mosaics photographed in situ on the Greek Island of Rhodes by our very own MD Jemima Haddock.

The largest of Greece's Dodecanese islands, Rhodes boasts a rich history spanning millennia. Settled in the Neolithic period, it became a major centre of the Mycenaean civilisation. Throughout antiquity Rhodes flourished. Famed for its Colossus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it played a pivotal role in trade routes, attracting merchants from across the Mediterranean. Successive occupations by Persians, Romans, Byzantines, and Knights Hospitaller left indelible marks on its culture and architecture.

In 1947, Rhodes joined modern Greece after centuries of Ottoman rule. Today, its blend of ancient ruins, medieval charm, and scenic beauty attracts tourists from across the world.
