A fine pair of Fox & Chave cufflinks featuring an element from a ceiling design by the 18th century Scottish Architect Robert Adam (1728–1792).

Adam transformed eighteenth-century design with his distinctive neoclassical style known as the 'Adam Style.' Drawing inspiration from ancient Roman and Greek architecture, Adam reimagined classical motifs with elegance and restraint, integrating architecture, interior design, and decorative arts into a unified aesthetic.

His work balanced symmetry with lightness, colour, and ornamentation, moving away from the heavy Palladianism of his predecessors. Through projects such as Kedleston Hall and Syon House, Adam’s approach shaped British taste and influenced design across Europe and America. His legacy endures in the refinement of proportion, harmony, and decorative unity in modern architecture.
