A floral Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf with a design of distinctive yellow daffodils.

The daffodil is the common name for the genus of plants Narcissus. The national flower of Wales, it's significance is rooted in both cultural tradition and its connection to St. David's Day, the national day of Wales, celebrated on March 1st.

Daffodils bloom in early spring, typically around the time of St. David's Day, making them a symbol of renewal, hope, and the arrival of a new season. Their bright yellow petals represent optimism, new beginnings, and the resilience of life emerging after winter.

In Welsh, the word for daffodil is Cenhinen Bedr (St. Peter’s leek), and while the leek is also a national emblem, the daffodil has become more popular in modern times due to its aesthetic appeal.
