DESIGNER'S NOTES
A blue Fox & Chave silk tie with repeat pattern of Athene noctua, or little owls.
The Greek owl, which was said to accompany Athena, the goddess of wisdom, war, and strategy, symbolises wisdom, knowledge, and vigilance. Known as the Glaucus owl, this bird was sacred to Athena and featured prominently in ancient Greek art and coinage, particularly on Athenian tetradrachms.
Its keen sight and nocturnal habits made it a metaphor for seeing the truth and navigating darkness or ignorance. The owl also represented protection; Athenians believed it brought good fortune and safety in battle, as Athena's companion. Over time, it became a global emblem of intellect and learning.
