DESIGNER'S NOTES
This 'Hokusai Phoenix' poshminaTM stole is inspired by the work of the Japanese painter and print maker Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) a leading light of the Ukiyo-e genre of art that came to prominence in the Edo period in Japan from 1603-1867.
The striking red, black, gold and green design is after an image of a Phoenix painted as a screen by the artist, and recreated here on glossy satin silk design with the warmth of brushed silk that feels like cashmere on the other. Each scarf is individually hand finished.
This design is also available as a crêpe de chine silk scarf. Browse other similar items in our Japanese & Far East collection.
