A distinguished Fox & Chave printed silk tie with a design in shades of pink, lilac and purple in the Ikat style.

The term Ikat comes from the Malay word mengikat, meaning to tie or to bind. This refers to the tie-dyeing method that originated in South East Asia, particularly Indonesia, that is used to give these types of textiles their unique vibrancy of colour and design by dyeing the threads prior to weaving.

Ikat has now come to refer to the textiles themselves as well as the process.
