A Kilim is a flat-woven textile or rug traditionally produced in regions across the Middle East, Anatolia (Turkey), North Africa, the Balkans, and Central Asia.

Unlike knotted carpets, kilims are made by tightly interweaving warp and weft threads, creating a flat surface with no pile. They are known for their bold geometric patterns, rich colours, and symbolic motifs, often representing fertility, protection, or spiritual beliefs.

Kilims served both functional and decorative roles: as floor coverings, wall hangings, saddle bags, or dowry items. Their designs vary regionally, reflecting the cultural identity of the weaver.
