DESIGNER'S NOTES
A magnificent Fox & Chave silk crêpe de chine scarf with a design featuring an element from the Stoclet Frieze, a series of three mosaics created by the Austrian Artist Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) under commission by the Belgian financier Adolphe Stoclet and his wife Suzanne for the Stoclet Palace in Brussels, Belgium.
Located in the dining room of the Palace a building designed by architect Joseph Hoffmann, the frieze was completed between 1905 and 1911, and represented a quintessential example of Klimt's Symbolist and Art Nouveau style.
Each mosaic surrounds a central motif of a tree of life with swirling boughs and branches showcasing Klimt's fascination with gold leaf and elaborate ornamentation.
