DESIGNER'S NOTES
This Fox & Chave silk tie features a pattern derived from a classic textile design by William Morris named Four Fruits created in 1862. This blue variation features, lemons, oranges, peaches and pomegranates with their leaves and branches. The latter choice of fruit being synonymous with Morris's late Victorian aesthetic.
Home decoration guides of the period often recommended Morris designs. The title page of Robert Edis’s noteworthy book The Furniture and Decoration of Town Houses (1881) has an image of the writer's own living room, where the Pomegranate wallpaper can be seen.
