Renoir Peony Chiffon Scarf

DESIGNER'S NOTES

A resplendent Fox & Chave silk chiffon scarf featuring a repeat pattern derived from the painting Peonies (c. 1880) by the French painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919).

This particular still-life painting captures the lush beauty of blooming flowers. Renoir's characteristic Impressionist style shines through in the soft, feathery brushstrokes and the rich, warm palette that gives the petals a lifelike, almost tactile quality. 

Born in Limoges, Renoir began his career as a porcelain painter before studying art in Paris. His works often captured joyful scenes with warm colours and soft brushstrokes, exemplified in masterpieces like Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette and Luncheon of the Boating Party.

Renoir suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis later in life, yet he continued to paint by strapping brushes to his deformed hands.
