DESIGNER'S NOTES

A blue Fox & Chave silk tie with a repeat print of William Shakespeare derived from the Chandos Portrait, an image dating from the early 1600s and the only portrait with a credible claim to have been painted from life.

Interwoven amongst the portraits are a selection of some of the most terse examples of speech from the works of the bard, including;

"Come, you are a tedious fool" - Escalus in Measure for Measure. (Act 2, Scene 1)

"Thou drone, thou snail, thou slug..." - Adriana in The Comedy of Errors. (Act 2, Scene 2)

"Peace good tickle brain" - Falstaff in Henry IV, Part 1. (Act 2, Scene 4)

"The tartness of his face sours ripe grapes" - Menenius Agrippa in Corialanus. (Act 5, Scene 4)
