A superb Fox & Chave silk tie with a design after a floral style of embroidery from Central Asia known as Suzani, originally created as part of a bride’s traditional dowry.

The embroidery is characterised by vibrant, intricate designs featuring flowers, vines, pomegranates, and geometric shapes, often symbolising fertility, protection, and good fortune.

Suzani originates from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and parts of Kazakhstan, regions historically shaped by their position along the Silk Road. These areas have a rich tapestry of cultural influences, blending Persian, Turkic, Mongol, and Islamic traditions. In Uzbekistan, particularly in cities like Bukhara, Samarkand, and Tashkent, Suzani represents both artistry and social customs.
