DESIGNER'S NOTES
A fine pair of Fox & Chave cufflinks featuring a tile design derived from the Alhambra Palace in Andalusia in Spain.
The tile design of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, epitomises the geometric mastery of Islamic art. Created during the Nasrid dynasty (13th–15th centuries), its zellige mosaics and glazed tiles form intricate, mathematically precise patterns that express the Islamic pursuit of unity through abstraction. Interlocking stars, polygons, and arabesques unfold in infinite repetition, symbolising divine order.
The limited palette of cobalt blue, turquoise, white, green, and ochre enhances spatial rhythm and serenity. Beyond decoration, these patterns transform architecture into a meditative experience, merging mathematics, spirituality, and artistry. The Alhambra’s tiles remain among the finest achievements of Moorish aesthetic and intellectual culture.
