A distinctive red Fox & Chave habotai silk scarf with a print replicating a design finish produced as a result of the batik resistance dyeing technique. 

Batik is a masterwork of wax-resist dyeing that carries deep cultural symbolism in Indonesia, where it began. While traditional Javanese palettes favour rich indigo and earthy soga brown, red batik, historically known as Batik Pesisir, emerged along Java’s northern coastal trade hubs. Drenched in vivid crimson hues traditionally derived from the mengkudu root, these vibrant textiles reflect a rich fusion of Javanese, Chinese, and European influences.

Intricate motifs like sprawling florals, phoenixes, and stylised cloud formations are hand-drawn with a copper canting using hot beeswax. The dynamic contrast between intense crimson grounds and crisp ivory or gold resist lines gives red batik an unmatched, radiant energy, showcasing heritage, prosperity, and artisanal textile brilliance.

STYLING
