DESIGNER'S NOTES

A soft pink Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf featuring elements from a painting entitled Gather ye Rosebuds while ye May by the Pre-Raphaelite painter John William Waterhouse (1849-1917)

There is more than one painting with the same titles by Waterhouse this design is derived from the version painted by the artist in 1908.

Celebrated for his romantic depictions of mythology, literature, and feminine beauty, the painting draws its title from Robert Herrick’s 17th-century poem, embodying the carpe diem motif. The work depicts a serene, richly dressed young woman presenting a bowl of freshly picked roses. Waterhouse employs delicate luminosity and earthy palettes to contrast fleeting youth with inevitable decay.
