A woven silk Fox & Chave tie with a repeat pattern of pigs over an army green ground.

Pigs, also known as swine or hogs, are highly intelligent and social mammals. Domesticated for thousands of years, they are valued for their meat and other products.

Pigs are omnivores with a keen sense of smell, which they use to find food. They have stout bodies, short legs, and a distinctive snout. Despite their reputation, pigs are quite clean animals, often wallowing in mud to regulate their body temperature and protect their skin from the sun.

In addition to their agricultural importance, pigs are increasingly recognised for their cognitive abilities. Studies have shown they can solve complex problems, recognise themselves in mirrors, and display a range of emotions.
