A wonderfully patriotic Fox & Chave silk tie with repeat pattern of Union Jack flags flying against a Royal blue ground.

The Union Jack, the flag of the United Kingdom, originated in 1606 when King James VI of Scotland became James I of England, uniting the two crowns. It combined England’s St. George’s Cross (red cross on a white background) with Scotland’s St. Andrew’s Cross (white diagonal cross on a blue background). In 1801, after Ireland joined the United Kingdom, the red saltire of St. Patrick (red diagonal cross on a white background) was added, creating the current design.

This blend of symbols represents the union of England, Scotland, and Ireland under one monarchy. Although Ireland largely gained independence in 1921, the Union Jack remains the official flag, symbolizing unity and shared heritage among the constituent nations of the UK.
