A silk scrunchie featuring a design with a variation on a wallpaper design featuring birds by Charles Voysey (1857-1941).

C.F.A. Voysey’s pattern style is defined by simplicity, clarity of line and restrained naturalism, often featuring stylised animals and birds integrated into flowing, rhythmic compositions. His depictions, such as swans, birds in flight or perched songbirds, are flattened and linear, avoiding excessive detail while retaining identifiable form.

Voysey typically used muted, harmonious colours and repeated motifs, creating a sense of calm and balance across textiles, wallpapers and metalwork.
