DESIGNER'S NOTES

A colourful Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf with a design derived from one of over 250 oil paintings by Claude Monet (1840-1926) centred on the large pond in his garden at Giverny.

This work entitled simply Waterlilies, like so many others, was painted in the latter part of the series between the years 1914 and 1917.

During this time, Monet emerged from a period of deep mourning following the deaths of his wife, Alice, and his eldest son, Jean. Despite his grief and the onset of cataracts, he began his most ambitious work: the Grandes Décorations.

While World War I raged just miles from Giverny, Monet found a defiant sanctuary in his garden. He constructed a massive third studio to house enormous canvases, shifting his style toward grand, gestural abstraction. These years marked a transition from small studies to the immersive, panoramic water lily murals that would eventually define his final legacy.

STYLING

A Fox & Chave habotai silk scarf can be worn with the classic knot style or a pussycat bow. You can even create a shawl effect by knotting two scarves together behind your neck and allowing them to drape over your shoulders.
