DESIGNER'S NOTES
White cotton boxer shorts with a repeat text pattern of the quote 'I can resist anything but Temptation' from the pen of the Irish wit and playwright Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
The line is from Oscar Wilde’s play Lady Windermere’s Fan, first performed in London in 1892. It is spoken by the witty and amoral character Lord Darlington, who embodies the play’s satirical take on society, flirtation and moral hypocrisy. Wilde often used such paradoxical statements to mock social conventions, and this particular line became one of his most quoted witticisms, encapsulating both his humour and his fascination with desire and self-indulgence.
