Frida Kahlo Chiffon Scarf

DESIGNER'S NOTES

This wonderful Fox & Chave chiffon silk scarf features a design after the final painting by the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954).

Kahlo is most renowned for a variety of self portraits where the artist is depicted in different surrealist scenes often as expressions of her physical pain, suffering and emotional world following a life changing accident when, at the age of 18, a trolley car collided with the bus she was travelling on.

By contrast, this final work painted in 1954 just days before her death, is a simple if colourful still life of watermelons, with the words 'Viva la Vida' or 'Long live life' inscribed on the flesh of a sliced piece of the fruit.
