A courtesy face mask with a design featuring a section from a 19th century map of London.

Some nineteenth-century maps of London included detailed street-level plans of cemeteries and plague burial sites, reflecting anxieties about disease as the city rapidly expanded.

Cartographers sometimes marked the exact locations of mass graves or cholera outbreaks, alongside parks and new railway lines, making maps not only navigational tools but early instruments of public health and urban planning.
