DESIGNER'S NOTES
A Fox & Chave silk bow tie with a pattern after peacock feathers designed by the Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928).
A key figure in the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements, Mackintosh often incorporated natural motifs into his designs, and the peacock feather is a recurring symbol in his work.
With their elegant curves and vibrant colours, peacock feathers were a good fit for the Art Nouveau movement's emphasis on organic forms and flowing lines. Mackintosh often used these feathers' shapes to create patterns that convey movement and rhythm, reflecting his love for nature's sinuous and dynamic forms.
