A hardback A5 notebook with lined pages and a ribbon marker featuring the pattern Willow Boughs by William Morris (1834-96) in pale blue over a light ground.
Morris had a characteristic fiery temper and an unusual way of expressing it. When he got frustrated, particularly over political matters or his work, he would physically wrestle with furniture, even once reportedly throwing a chair out of a window!
Despite his refined designs, he was also a big fan of medieval life and once tried learning Icelandic just so he could translate epic sagas. His passion for storytelling and craftsmanship made him as much a romantic idealist as a practical designer.
