DESIGNER'S NOTES
A musical Fox & Chave silk tie for Opera enthusiasts featuring the names of many of the world's most famous operas in a variety of typefaces over a background of musically inspired silhouettes, all in shades of blue.
Opera originated in late 16th-century Italy as an ambitious attempt to revive the storytelling traditions of ancient Greek drama.
A group of Florentine intellectuals known as the Camerata believed that music could heighten the emotional impact of speech and poetry. They experimented with combining solo singing, instrumental accompaniment, and drama, leading to the first operas around 1600.
Jacopo Peri’s Dafne (1598) and Euridice (1600) are among the earliest known works, blending music and myth in a new, expressive form. Monteverdi’s L'Orfeo (1607) solidified opera’s dramatic and musical potential, laying the foundation for its evolution. Opera quickly spread across Europe, adapting to local tastes and languages, becoming a prestigious and enduring art form by the time of the Baroque era.

STYLING
A Fox & Chave silk tie looks best tied in a classic Windsor or half-Windsor knot and worn with a collar style of your choosing. Cutaway or spread collars offer the greatest opportunity to display the detail of your unique silk tie design.
