DESIGNER'S NOTES
A fine pair of Fox & Chave cufflinks featuring a Royal Stewart tartan design.
The Royal Stewart tartan is a vibrant red plaid pattern symbolising heritage and monarchy, often regarded as the personal tartan of Queen Elizabeth II.
It dates back to at least the 18th century and is associated with the House of Stewart. This dynasty originated in Scotland in the 14th century, ascending to the throne with Robert II in 1371, ruling Scotland until 1707 and the Kingdom of England and Ireland from 1603 to 1714. Prominent Stewart monarchs include Mary, Queen of Scots, and Charles I.
The tartan was particularly evident during the reign of King George IV. Traditionally, it is regarded as the personal tartan of the British royal family, but it is now widely worn by anyone as a symbol of heritage and style, without restrictions.
