A fine pair of Fox & Chave cufflinks featuring a simple bicycle motif.

The popularisation of the bicycle in the late 19th century transformed transportation, leisure, and society. Early high-wheel 'penny-farthings' gave way to the safer 'safety bicycles,' with equal-sized wheels and chain drives, making cycling accessible to wider populations, including women.

Mass production and affordable pricing spurred urban and rural adoption, enabling mobility, independence, and new social freedoms. Bicycle clubs, touring, and competitive races fostered community and sport, while cycling influenced fashion, infrastructure, and city planning.

Beyond recreation, the bicycle became a symbol of progress and modernity, reflecting technological innovation and reshaping perceptions of time, space, and personal autonomy in industrialising societies.

Fox & Chave cufflinks are made in England from polished rhodium plate findings with fixed oval backs. Each pair is supplied in an elegant flip top presentation box. They can be worn with single, double or convertible cuff dress shirts.
